Artist's Statement |
|
| My painting process is anchored in memories of my cultural, educational and artistic roots in France, as well as my life and travels in the Pacific. It is this blend of cultures, each with a unique sense of color and form, that I find intriguing. My work is greatly affected by the visual imagery and nostalgia that I carry for these very different lifestyles. It is from that place between these time and cultural currents that my paintings evolve. Taking the heat and intensity of the tropical palette of my youth and textile design background, and often mixing it with remembered components of my urban childhood in France, I am attempting to depict that "in between" space. | |
